Introducing SurfStatsLive
SurfStatsLive Reporting Service is a real-time website analytics system that
provides users with comprehensive website statistics reports on demand. Most
popular web browsers on local networks or the Internet can view the html-based
generated reports. The SurfStatsLive Reporting Service is installed physically on
the web server and logically consists of five main components:
1.
Log file merging service and mergeclient This service runs in the
background as a Windows 2000 service, selects the required data from the
log files of virtual web servers and other log sources, then populates the
site profile databases.
2.
Site profiles databases One site profile database only contains the
configuration details and activity records of the filtered virtual web server
or sub-directory (virtual directory) as specified in the site profile set up.
The end user accesses one of the site profile databases through a browser
and web server to view reports. There is one site profile database per site
profile.
3.
Reporting server - This server serves the requested reports to clients from
the site profile databases. Requests from web pages start up the reporting
server, which sends back reports in HMTL format to client browsers.
4.
Server Administration Server Administration makes use of the user
information in the local Windows (SAM) user database (or Windows 2000
domain) to grant access to users to the Administration part of the
SurfStatsLive Reporting Service for administering the service.
5.
Page title lookup application. Looks up page titles by accessing the web
site associated to a site profile.
